Hailuoto is located just off the coast of Oulu, approximately 50 kilometres from the city centre. The largest island in the Bothnian Bay is a year-round destination for those seeking peace, nature and authentic experiences. Discover the island’s distinctive atmosphere through its natural landscapes, culture, local flavours and maritime scenery.
Hailuoto is easy to reach from both near and far. The island is around a 30-minute drive from Oulu Airport, and there is also a direct local bus service from Oulu city centre. The new fixed link makes the journey smooth and takes you across open seascapes directly to the island.
By bus to Hailuoto
You can reach Hailuoto from the mainland by local bus. A single adult ticket costs only €2.60 when paid by contactless payment or through the OSL app.
Hailuoto can be reached from the centre of Oulu by bus routes 59 and 59S.

Taxi in Hailuoto
Taxi Hailuoto provides transport services for getting around the island, as well as for journeys outside the island when needed.
The taxi service is accessible, and taxi rides are eligible for Kela reimbursement. Several wheelchair-accessible taxis are available. Taxi Hailuoto follows the pricing of Pohjanmaan Taksi Oy.
