Program for Summer Opening Festival

There’s programming from morning to evening all around the island—explore what’s on offer here:

Village House Main Shop / Brewery Courtyard (Luovontie 233):

12:00 – Opening of the Tikkuröijy (traditional sweater) exhibition at Galleria Luoto, and the opening of Päivi Kuusisto's art exhibition at Galleria Peräkammari.

13:00–15:00 – Plant swap. The Nature Conservation Association sells birdhouses and Hailuodon Luonto magazines.

19:00 – Performance by the fan dance group Viuhkea and the musical duo Ilmavirta. Duration approx. 15 minutes, Brewery courtyard.

 

Saarenkartano (Kaunakaupungintie 1):

13:00–14:00 – Community sing-along, organized by Hailuoto parish.

14:00–15:00 – A Moment of History: Ritva Rundgren shares stories about Hailuoto’s history, and residents can reminisce about meaningful places through photos.

 

Municipal Hall (Luovontie 176):

11:00–13:00 – Ice Cream Summer at the municipal hall: Sweet treats for everyone from the ice cream cart, plus fun surprise activities for children!

 

Café Loma & K-Market Yard (Luovontie 150):

10:00–15:00 – Kujala's Burger Truck in the K-Market yard.

16:30 – Opening of Katri Kaverinen’s print exhibition Souvenirs.

18:00 – Terrace dancing.

20:00 – Bingo night.

 

Sale Yard (Luovontie 136):

11:00–15:00 – The Martha Organization’s pancake café open.

11:00–15:00 – Hailuoto School’s Parent Association fundraising for camp school and class trips: selling cookies and candies from Kakkutukku, Panda licorice, and laundry detergent.

11:00–17:00 – Luovon Leivos summer café open. Young 4H entrepreneurs host hobby horse competitions in addition to running the café.

 

Marjaniemi:

The lighthouse is open Sat–Sun from 12:00–14:00 (€10/€5/€25), with lighthouse-themed merchandise available for purchase.

Café Kaija’s Birthday Celebration: All food –10% all day, drink specials, and 20:00 live music by Mikko Pohjola Duo. Open until late as long as guests stay!

 

Church (Luovontie 52):

15:00–16:00 – Concert organized by the Cultural Center Association: performances by Väinö Tuonela, Teemu Pyhtilä, Sinikka Ala-Leppilampi, and Tiina Saukkoriipi-Haapala.

 

Elsewhere on the island:

10:30 – Mermaid of Marjaniemi welcomes visitors arriving on the island, Hailuoto ferry port.

10:00–18:00 – Opening of the Summer Café and Tuulesta Temmattu Flea Market, Luovontie 1112.

11:00–15:00 – Heikkisen Haka open: items for sale in Mustajalka's granary, open doors to the workshop, and animals that still live on-site can be viewed. Food also available.

11:00–15:00 – Spring Exhibition at Niittyateljee in Kittilä Corner: works by Anne Junnikkala, Anna-Liisa Piekkola, Sisko Mustonen, and Kaija Suomela. Light refreshments served at the opening. Kittiläntie 138 A
